Kano State to expend N550 million on Ramadan free feeding programme
Kano State Government has earmarked N550 million to be spent on providing free feeding program during the holy month of Ramadan .
The state Acting Governor Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna stated this while flagging-off the free feeding program at the premises of Kano Printing Press.
The feeding exercise will be hosted in 140 centres across the 8 metropolitan local governments.
Gawuna said the essence of the program is to reduce hardship faced by the less privileged persons
He tasked members of the Ramadan free feeding committee to discharge their duties judiciously.
Speaking on behalf of the members of the committee, Commissioner for Local Government Murtala Sule Garo assured that the committee would ensure equity through regular supervision of the feeding program slated for the 140 centres in the 8 metropolitan local governments.
Garo disclosed that 4,300 bags of rice, 1,310 bags of millet, 865 bags of beans, 1,310 bags of sugar, 2,240 cartons of macaroni, 2,940 Jerry cans of groundnut oil, 2,160 jerry can of palm oil, 52,000 sachet water among other items have been allotted for the exercise.
