Kunchi LGA, Sam Pharmaceuticals moves to fight against malnutrition in Kano

Kunchi local government in collaboration with Institute for Dietetics in Nigeria(IDN)Kano state chapter with support from a leading pharmaceutical firm has organized a one day sensitization outreach to wage war against the menace of malnutrition in Kano state.
The outreach featured food demonstration, weight and height measurements, education and interactive sessions.
The chairman Kunchi local council, Aminu Idi Shuwaki , in his remarks said that the local government council, which collaborated with IDN to host the one day event has set the agenda to invest huge chunk of its resources towards providing residents with quality healthcare services with women and children in focus.
Speaking at the one day outreach , the chairman represented by the council vice chairman, Bashir Shaibu Alhassan admitted that their council administration is conversant with the threat posed by malnutrition .
He added that the council in its preparedness to fight the menace has continued to pursue an anti malnutrition agenda in collaboration with stakeholders in strong believe to stem the worrisome status of the ravaging ailment.
Bashir noted that creation of awareness on nutritional best practices in the communities that constitute the LG has dominated the forefront of the health policy template been implemented in the council area.
He appealed to pregnant women and lactating mothers to always adhere to nutritional best practices to help salvage and shield the families and community at large from all types of damages that may be suffered from malnutrition.
The chairman IDN, Kano state chapter, Auwalu Musa applaud the council chairman and members of staff of Kunchi local council for their support, noting that participants at the outreach held at Shuwaki model Primary Health centre were tutored on how to make use of food items available locally with high nutritional values to meet their health demands.
Or correspondent reports that the outreach, which was attended by hundreds of pregnant and lactating mothers drawn from Shuwaki town , surrounding suburbs and Malikawa community was supported by Sam pharmaceuticals the producers of an anti malnutrition supplement, named Nuttees, represented by one Niso Jacob.
I commend the effort of Kano state Government for the fight against hunger and malnutrition program inline with the food insecurities challenges, it will help to improve health sector.
