Kano State Executive Council Approves N18.8bn for Various Projects

Kano State Executive Council presided by governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has today (Wednesday) approved the release of N18,827,672,314,67 for the execution of various projects across the state.

The Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye Dantiye made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the 18th Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber, Government House.

According to the Commissioner, the sum of N244,987,633.26 was approved for KEDCO electricity bills for the month of June, 2024 in respect of 4 major water treatment plants that include Challawa, Tamburawa, Kusalla, Watari and State Water Board Headquarters.

Also approval was granted for the release of N141,600,000.00 for the supply of 59,000 litres of diesel (AGO) in August,2024 to the Ministry of Water Resources at the cost of N141,600,000.00; and N297,000,000.00 for the supply of 120,000 litres of diesel (AGO) and 14,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

Baba Dantiye maintained that approval was granted for the supply and Retrofit installation of Anti-theft Integrated Solar Powered Streetlight within Kano metropolis (phase II) at the cost of N6,002,228,092.74.

He added that approval was granted to acquire and utelize a portion of land at Danfami, Challawa formerly part of Dala Inland Dry Port for overriding public purpose (Housing Scheme) amounting to N150,000,000.00.

Similarly, the council approved the sum of N6,154,448,839.35 for settlement of third disbursement of the activities of Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus programme (NG-CARES) in Kano State.

The Commissioner went further to explain that N117,500,000.00 was approved for the procurement of 2 Toyota Hilux 2023 and 1 Toyata Hiace bus fairly used.

Also the council approved N1,725,905,593.13 for the completion of 5 kilometer dualized road in Wudil local government; N746,208,634.47 for the payment of (8) weeks to the foodstuff contractors of 39 boarding schools.

Baba Halilu elucidated further that approval was granted for the refurbishment of 12 Girls -Child initiative buses at the cost of N8,138,000.00; N88,608,031.80 for the construction of Trade Clusters at Shahuci along Dan Dawakin street adjacent to Shahuci shopping plaza .

He added that approval was granted for reconstruction of re-designed Kofar Mata Eid-Ground (filin Idi) and Islamic Arena amounting to N2,549,911,545.33; N108,963,649.43 for proposed market stalls and sheds at Badawa layout ( A Gangara), Nassarawa local government and N492,172,295.16 for proposed new Kano Government House Executive Council Chamber.
