Kano Onion traders begins export to Europe, Asia

The umbrella body of onion traders in Kano state have finalized arrangements that will facilitate the exportation of Onions to Europe, Asia and neighboring African countries.
The secretary, Onion Traders and Farmers Association of Nigeria, Kano state chapter, Mustapha Adam , Saturday in an interview disclosed that all documentation processes have been completed by the association, adding that onion could now be exported from Kano to abroad.
He said the association is officially certified to export Onion to Saudi Arabia, India and Turkey, stressing that the development will support federal government’s diversification campaign programme .
Adam stated that the exportation of the farm product will help boost revenue generation to the federal government, state government, entrepreneurs and onion farmers.
He appealed to federal government to provide onion farmers and traders with subsidy, financial and logistic support to uplift their sector to compete with other viable sector of Nigerian economy..
