2021: Kano police command renders account in crime fighting , says it arrested 2 suspected insurgents, 235 suspected armed robbers, 31 persons died of culpable homicide, 71 rape cases reported, others

Kano police command led by Sumaila Shuaibu Dikko on Friday said it recorded tremendous success in securing lives and properties across the 44 local governments in the state, in the year 2021.
The command spokesman, Dsp Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on the evening of December 31st 2021 in a wide broadcast said Kano command adopted community policing strategies, which yielded high dividends, adding that operation Puff adder and intelligence gathering mechanism were behind the successes recorded by the command in the outgoing year.
Kiyawa giving a breakdown of the achievements of the command stated that 39 kidnap victims were rescued, while 120 male and five female suspected persons were prosecuted for committing the alleged crime of kidnapping.
He further stated that , 23 cases of armed robbery were handled at the command , along side the prosecution of 235 suspected armed robbers before various courts.
He said the lives of 32 persons were loss under 29 culpable circumstances,
Further in his accounts, the police spokesman added that 58 drug dealers landed in the net of the command , adding that 71 cases of rape were reported,, while 21 cases of unnatural offences were recorded by the command.
He alleged that 1,537 thugs known in local parlance as yan daba were arrested during the year under review, noting that eight victims of suspected cases of human trafficking were set free, 75 motor vehicle thieves were also apprehended and prosecuted.
Kiyawa note that 674 knives were recovered from suspected persons, 480 suck and die, 680 mobile phones, Indian hemp worth N22 million and four bags of codeine were mopped up from circulation, while 31 cattle rustlers landed in police net.
According to him, locally made explosives, toy guns , locally made pistols, machine gun and AK 47 rifles and quantum of live ammunitions were retrieved as exhibits, during the year under review.
He averred that the command will sustain the strategy of community policing, information gathering and prompt response action, all in efforts to continue to ensure round the clock protection of lives and properties.
He said the command is grateful towards the supports they enjoyed from members of the public , whose confidence was enjoyed by the command.
