By Abdulgafar Oladimeji

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP has shelved its anti INEC stance to stage a protest in solidarity  to support the   Independent National Electoral Commission. INEC , after  the conduct of the 2023 Kano state governorship election.

Prior to the March 18th governorship election, it would be recalled that the  NNPP had occupied the fore in the campaign of alleged  suspicion and lack of confidence and neutrality  in the affairs of the  electoral umpire in the state.

The party in a letter dated 22 March 2023 addressed to the  commissioner of police, Kano command disclosed that   the INEC peaceful solidarity protest   is slated for Thursday  23rd March 2023.

The letter signed by the state chairman of the party, Umar Haruna Doguwa said the protesters will converge at Dallar Gyada, from where  the  procession will proceed through Katsina road to INEC Kano headquarters along Hajj Camp road.

Doguwa said  “ we have organized a peaceful protest in solidarity with Independent National Electoral Commission. INEC Kano.”

Our correspondent reports that the scheduled  NNPP peaceful protest is in reaction  to the protest earlier carried out, on Wednesday  22 March by the APC , calling for the  immediate removal of INEC Kano REC, Amb Abdul Zango, over alleged acts of electoral partisanship and wrongful declaration of the  Kano governorship election results .
