NNPP Kano makes U turn, set to stage pro INEC solidarity protest

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP has shelved its anti INEC stance to stage a protest in solidarity to support the Independent National Electoral Commission. INEC , after the conduct of the 2023 Kano state governorship election.
Prior to the March 18th governorship election, it would be recalled that the NNPP had occupied the fore in the campaign of alleged suspicion and lack of confidence and neutrality in the affairs of the electoral umpire in the state.
The party in a letter dated 22 March 2023 addressed to the commissioner of police, Kano command disclosed that the INEC peaceful solidarity protest is slated for Thursday 23rd March 2023.
The letter signed by the state chairman of the party, Umar Haruna Doguwa said the protesters will converge at Dallar Gyada, from where the procession will proceed through Katsina road to INEC Kano headquarters along Hajj Camp road.
Doguwa said “ we have organized a peaceful protest in solidarity with Independent National Electoral Commission. INEC Kano.”
Our correspondent reports that the scheduled NNPP peaceful protest is in reaction to the protest earlier carried out, on Wednesday 22 March by the APC , calling for the immediate removal of INEC Kano REC, Amb Abdul Zango, over alleged acts of electoral partisanship and wrongful declaration of the Kano governorship election results .
