The former speaker, House of Representatives and member representing Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa-Balewa Yakubu Dogara, has rejected the Court judgement that sacked him from the lower chamber of the national assembly.
The court decision was hinged on his defection from People Democratic Party PDP to the All Progressive Congress APC.
The advocate to the lawmaker, J.J. Usman(SAN) informed journalists that the embattled lawmaker have concluded legal preparations to challenge the earlier decision of the Federal High Court that sat in Abuja.
The legal practitioner confirming the decision by Dogara to move against the verdict passed by the federal high court said “The judgment has just been delivered and we have been briefed by our client right from the court and he has expressed dissatisfaction against the judgment and has instructed that we file an appeal immediately which we shall do “.
Adding that The decision of the court that there is an evidence of defection to APC is not substantiated by any shred of evidence in the court’s record. We are proceeding to the Court of Appeal immediately”.
It could be recalled that Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had declared the seat occupied by Dogara as vacant, citing that his defection from PDP to the APC in 2020 tantamounts to an infringement on the provisions of the law.
