Concerned citizen drags FG to court, over environmental degradation in Kano

One Dazumi Mohammed has approached a federal high court sitting inGyadi Gyadi, Kano presided by justice A M Liman praying it to stop the federal government and quarrying companies operating in Kumbotso local government from indulging extractive activities .
The environmental activist in an originating summons informed the court that the activities of the extractive companies constitute danger to the lives of those residing around the area of their operations.
he told the court that the activties of the deefendants constitutes an health hazard to the lives and properties of those living in the areas, where the operated.
The plaintiff through his counsel A S. Aikawa prayed the court to pronounce the activities of all those connected to the quarrying business in the Danjirma village in Kumbotso local government area in Kano state as null and void.
He urged the court to order the minister of mines and steel, one Salisu S.Wali, who is the mines license officer in Kano, one Ahmad Musa, and Attorney General of the Federation and minster of justice to all refrain f henceforth from extractive activities in the area.
The court adjourned the matter to February 2, 2022, for hearing on interlocutory injunction, the court further directed that all procedural processes should be completed before the adjourned date.
