Kano Govt. Assures Full Implementation Education Recovery Committee Report
Kano State Committee on Education Recovery Conference has today Monday submitted it’s report to the Commissioner Ministry of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda.
Recall that following the declaration of state of emergency on education by the Executive Governor of Kano State Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, a 19- Member Committee was set up to organize 2-day Education Recovery Conference.
The Conference which brought together diverse stakeholders from Kano and global education community, deliberated on strategic education issues with outcomes that could help in shaping the quality of education service delivery in Kano State.
Presenting the report to the Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, the Chairman of the Committee also Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Alhaji Tajuddeen Gambo maintained that the report was divided in to five key areas comprising over view of the declaration and its significance in the education recovery process, a summary of the conference proceedings and description of the work plan development process.
” The report also contains an outline of the framework for monitoring and evaluating programme process as well as description of the mutual accountability framework that ensures stakeholders are held accountable for their commitments ” he revealed.
Alhaji Tajuddeen explained that the two-day Conference with theme ” Repositioning Education in Kano State: Navigating the Path to Excellence ” was targeted towards developing strategic interventions to improve the education sector in Kano, enhancing quality, access, equity and performance in basic literacy and numeracy and promoting of girl-child education and teacher development among others.
Tajuddeen added that the Conference was initiated out of the present administration’s commitment to address educational challenges through collaborative efforts involving the state government, development partners, civil organizations and community leaders.
He therefore assured the Commissioner that when the report is fully implemented, topical issues regarding education access, out of school children, Almajiri school system, Qur’anic and Tsangaya education, teacher professional development, girls education and female teacher shortage in rural areas would be addressed.
During the Conference, according to the Chairman, Papers were presented with keynote address by the Former Minister of Education Professor Rukayya Ahmed Rufa’i.
The Chairman therefore thanked the state government for the opportunity given to them to serve as committee members.
Receiving the report, the State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad said considering the composition of the people involved in the committee, there is no doubt the committee report would assist in addressing problems facing the state education sector.
” The committee has the group of the right persons that can do what is required. I therefore wish to thank you immensely for taking your time to come up with the report ” the Commissioner said.
Dr. Makoda assured the committee that government would ensure that the report is fully implemented as out come of the declaration of state of emergency on education in the state.
