A Kano shariah court has sentenced 15 men to 20 strokes of cane for smoking leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa,
The court heard that the convicts were arrested in Jakara quarters within Kano metropolis,, where they committed the act.
The charge sheet further alleged that the youths always get intoxicated, after consuming the illicit substance, whereby polluting the environ to the dismay of members of the community, who then reported the matter to the police.
The youths when arraigned before the court admitted that the allegations slammed against them were true, they begged the court for leniency.
The presiding khadi, Ustaz Munzali Tank ruled that they should be given 20 strokes of cane each.
