Truck Owner Sues KAROTA, for conversion of vehicle, demands N50 million compensation

One, Isiaka Zubair Aliagan has dragged Kano Road Traffic Agency, KAROTA before Kano state High court for converting his truck to use.
The plaintiff through his legal representative, Usman Fari Esq told the court that the agency have illegally confiscated his EBF truck with chasis number SAF2503TPO5066634.
Isiaka stated that the truck was removed from Kofar Wambai motor park, adding that the truck was then illicitly forfeited to Kano state government.
He prayed the court to declare the seizure of his privately owned truck by KAROTA operatives as illegal, stressing that KAROTA is not the court of law , noting that the agency lacks the power to confiscate his private property.
Isiaka in suit NO KM65 /2021 has urged the court to declare the action by KAROTA officials as an infringement on his fundamental right to own property,
He prayed the court to order KAROTA to return the truck back to him, as it’s lawful owner.
The suit filed on 22nd January 2022, have KAROTA and Attorney General Kano state as respondents, the plaintiff in the suit have prayed the court to ask the respondents to jointly and severally pay him the sum of N50 million as general and exemplary damages.
The plaintiff further asked the respondents to pay him the sum of N 8,960,00 as specific damage for illegal use of the truck.
Isiaka also demanded 10 percent of the judgment sum as court interest rate per annum , from the date of the judgment, until final liquidation of the judgment sum.
The matter is fixed for February 17th, for hearing.
