President Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Honor Sirawoo task media practitioners to fester nation building through sports

The president Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Honor Sirawoo has called on media practitioners to shun forces that are set forth to foster disunity within the media fraternity and Nigeria at large.
Mr Sirawoo made the clarion call at the end of the quarters finals matches of the ongoing SWAN Kano chapter inter media cup held at Kano Pillars last Monday evening.
Sirawoo, who commended SWAN Kano state chapter for portraying the bond among media practitioner could enjoy through sports, further advocates for a firm commitment and unity in the media fraternity.
Represented by the Vice President, SWAN North West Lurwanu Idris Malikawa, Sirawoo said “ unity is our strength, this competition has served as an indicator of the strength in our muscle, which we posses as a union.
“we must not allow our focus to be deviated from the motive and objectives set forth by the founding fathers of our great association.
“ as media practitioners, we are the bearers of the torch of unity and progress, along with the task to make sure those for running national affairs are made to remain steadfast and responsible , dedicated and accountable to the task and role in their duty of nation building.
, from this responsibility imposed on us by the provisions of the constitution of the federal of Nigeria, as contained in section 22 and section 39 of the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria, CFRN as amended, we as media practitioners are a critical stakeholders in this social contract called Nigeria, we cannot shy away as the press
“I say all this because sports is the sole undisputed tripod of our unity, it is our nation building force that is at home to all, we all know what I mean, when it comes to sports, we all speak one language, one religion, we become one nation, I urge us all to cement this strength , we as the mass media possess the absolute weapon that would help ustain our journey to greater heights as a nation.” Sirawoo stated,.
