The Offa Descendants Union (ODU) have applaud the  court  conviction of  the suspected person that carried out the horrific robbery attacks on the ancient town that led to the death of many.

The union in a statement made available on  its social media handles said “we commended the judiciary for its recent judgment regarding the Offa armed robbery attack.

The statement attributed to the Global President of the union, Muhydeen Olaniyi Azeez-Salako, said the union “conveyed profound appreciation for the judiciary’s decisive action in delivering justice, particularly highlighting the six-year delay that preceded the judgment.

The statement issued by the  national spokesman of the union,  Taofeek Olalekan OlaoseibikanSaid  that the union extended its  “ heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the bereaved families, who have long awaited justice for the tragic loss of their loved ones.”

“Muhydeen Salako underscored the resilience of the Offa community, they have successfully overcome the challenges that arose in the aftermath of the attack.  “

To reinforce this positive development, the community has implemented proactive measures to enhance security, to ensuring the safety of both lives and property, one  of the significant efforts includes the self-funding of a mobile police barracks in the town to bolster security for Offa and its neighbouring communities.” Salako  urged that “governments at all levels should prioritize people’s lives and property so that they can go about their daily lives without fear of being attacked.”

It would be recalled that , Kwara state High court presided over by Justice Haleemah Salman had sentenced the perpetrators  of the robbery incidence to death by hanging.

The convicts were arraigned before the court  on charges bordering on armed robbery and culpable homicide, that they were responsible for the  bank robbery attacks that resulted in the death of over 39 persons including , security operatives , women and children.
