Women media practitioners under the aegis of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Kano state chapter has appealed to pregnant mothers to make themselves available to be vaccinated against the dreaded Covid-19 disease.
The body made the clamor in a communiqué issued at the end of a one day sensitization programme, on Coviod-19 held in collaboration with UNICEF at Tahir Guest Palace, last Saturday.
The missive said “ pregnant women are not at risk when taking COVID-19 vaccines. That the vaccines are 100percent effective and that research has not shown if it is for a life time, for the research is still ongoing.
“vaccination is the best way to protect the younger generations from the disease for they are more victims of COVID-19, while the elderly ones are more at risk in Kano. The statistics also shows that the metropolitan axis have more cases of covid-19 than the locality.
“statistic show that those at risk are from the ages of 50 and above while those with underlined disease e.g. high blood pressure, diabetics, HIV Aids etc are at risk of being affected with the disease.
The augiust body note that “As such, vaccination is the best way to protect everyone from this deadly disease, anybody that is vaccinated with different vaccines in first and second dose should report such case to the Ministry of Health or related authority. Same vaccination for first and second dose is encouraged.
