Kano NUJ Gets New Excos

New Executive Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists Kano State Chapter has been Sworn in to begin thir tenure today.
The new elected officials inaguarated after the completion of two terms previous Executive Council, under the leadership of Comrade Abbas Ibrahim.
During his acceptance speech new NUJ Chairman, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Dederi, pledged to prioritize professional development for members and enhance their welfare.
“As we embark on this new chapter, I am committed to upholding the highest standards of journalism, fostering a culture of integrity, and advocating for the rights and welfare of all journalists in Kano State,” he said.
The NUJ Chairman commended the immediate past leadership of the NUJ for their inclusiveness and open door policy as well as ensuring Professionalism.
“I must acknowledge the exemplary efforts of the outgoing executive. Their dedication and hard work have laid a solid foundation upon which we will continue to build,” he said.
The Kano State Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, who welcomed the new leadership, advised them to unite members and be professional in their dealings.
He also called on the NAWOJ Kano chapter to have formidable leadership union.
“The vacuum is there and you need to do something urgently to fill it. It is for the good of the union,” he said.
The President of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Aisha Ibrahim, encouraged the new Executives to live up to expectations and make the council proud.
The former Chairman of the NUJ Kano chapter Abbas Ibrahim, urged the new Executives to take the new responsibility with all seriousness and propel the NUJ Kano chapter to the next level.
Ibrahim thanked Allah for the successful tenures and the support they enjoyed from members.
He enumerated achievements recorded within the two tenures to include the construction of over 20 shops, securing two buses, and renovation of NUJ hall among others.
He identified lack of access to information as a challenge to practitioners, calling on both public and private agencies to always provide journalists with information for the benefit of society
The swearing-in of the new Executives Kano chapter was well attended by state government functionaries and other union leaders.
The new Leadership has Suleiman Dederi as Chairman, Mustapha Muhammad as Vice, Abubakar Kwaru as Secretary and four other officials.
