In an effort to avert frequent river accidents that have claimed many lives and resulted in the loss of properties, the Kano State government has reiterated its commitment to purchase and distribute new boats to the three local government areas most affected by such incidents.
The State Commissioner of Transportation, Engr. Muhammad Ibrahim Diggol, disclosed this during his visit to some of the affected areas, including Bagwai, Garko, and Tudun Wada.
Engr. Muhammad Diggol described the initiative as part of the efforts by the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to promote the transportation system and enhance the socio-economic development of the people in these areas.
The Commissioner, represented by the Special Adviser on Transport, Alhaji Danladi Idris Karfi, stated that to ensure the realization of this goal, the state government had included it in this year’s fiscal budget. According to a press release by the Information Officer of the ministry, Ibrahim Adamu Kofar Nassarawa, the team visited Badau in Bagwai, Kafin Ciri in Garko, and Maraku in Tudun Wada local government areas.
He urged the people in these areas to support the present administration in moving the areas forward.
In their separate remarks, the local government caretaker chairmen of Bagwai, Alhaji Aliyu Bello Gadanya, Garko, Malan Gambo Isa, and Tudun Wada, Malan Umar Isa Rugu-Rugu, described the visit as a welcome development and promised to adhere to any rules and regulations laid down by the state government. They assured their maximum support and cooperation towards achieving the set objectives.
