The Kano state Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a stern warning to officials of the state against diversion of fertilizer distributed to 52, 800 farmers across the 44 Local Government areas.
The Governor mandated Kano Project Protection Association (Kano-PRO-PA) to ensure adherance to the distribution guidlines for the intended smallholder farmers.
“Any government official found to be dirverting this fertilizer would be dealt with severely, we will not tolorate corruption, this gesture is meant for real farmers” the Governor warned
In his keynote address, the Emir of Kano, Mal. Muhammadu Sanusi II has called on the distributors of Kano State free fertilizer sharing to be just and fair in the distribution exercise to achieve the set goal and objectives.
This was made known in a statement made available to journalists by the Spokesperson of Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The Emir made the call today (Thursday) at the flag-off of distribution of free fertilizer to farmers across the 44 local governments provided by Kano State Government that was held at the Open arena, Government House, Kano.
He said the gesture was timely as the Emirate has been receiving reports from District Heads on lamentations of farmers due to the high price of fertilizer that impede farming in the 2024 raining season, a situation that may cause food shortage.
Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II added that cascading the item to the intended beneficiaries and provision of the needed farm inputs will in no small measure assist in having bumper harvest, and tasked the farmers to judiciously utelize what was given to them.
The Emir used the opportunity to call on well to do individuals, philanthropists, and all those capable in the society to empower farmers with inputs, and feed the needy as the trying moment of suffering lingers.
He doffed hat to Kano State Government under the leadership of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for initiating people oriented projects aimed at uplifting the standard of living of the teaming populace of Kano.
Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II prayed for peace, unity, stability, prosperity and economic development in the state and beyond.
