Corruption is killing Nigeria, CITAD laments

The Centre for Information and Technology Development, CITAD has warned that the spate of growth of corrupt practices been recorded is the bane behind the destruction of the fabrics of national development in Nigeria.
The executive director of the Centre, Yunusa Z. Yau in his welcome remarks during a two days media training programme, on how to fight corruption held at Pali suites Bauchi, organized by CITAD , said “corruption is killing Nigeria.
He alleged that the rampant cases of kidnapping, banditry and other various forms of criminal activities bedeviling Nigeria, he said they were the results from corrupt practices been perpetrated at all levels of governance.
He decried the negative impact of corruption on the failed delivery of good health, education, infrastructure and its recurrent effects in strangulating the procedures in the justice system
According to him, to bring an end to corruption, the mass media should embark on mobilization of the citizenry through what he described as humanized reportages of corruption.
He explained that, humanized reporting of corruption related issues will sensitized the citizens on the losses been incurred courtesy of the corrupt acts of their leaders, in turn would be better educated to rise to fight against the menace.
He called for the total overhaul of the Nigerian security architecture, lamenting that the existing security situation is worrisome, though noting that the epileptic security situation is tied to corruption in the Nigerian national life.
