Saudi donates 50 tons of date to Kano govt

Saudi Arabia has donated 50 tons (1,250 cartons) of date to Kano state government of Nigeria.

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kano held the official ceremony to distribute the date to the state government at the government house on Friday, as part of its annual humanitarian relief efforts.

The initiative, facilitated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), aims to support vulnerable families across the country and strengthen the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

During the ceremony, Consul General of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Kano state Nigeria, Khalil Admawy, conveyed the Kingdom’s dedication to humanitarian causes.

He expressed his profound gratitude to King Salman bin Abdelaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support in providing aid to Muslims and underserved communities worldwide.

He emphasized that Saudi Arabia remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering Islamic solidarity and providing relief to those in need.

He further explained that this year’s distribution includes 50 tones of dates for Abuja which took place last week and another 50 tones for Kano and some northern Nigerian States which arrangements are ongoing on to deliver it to them, continuing Saudi Arabia’s tradition of assisting Nigeria through humanitarian donations.

He noted that the initiative represents the Kingdom’s broader mission to uplift Muslim communities, alleviate suffering, and promote unity, particularly during significant by the custodian of the two Holy Mosques to King Salman bin Abdelaziz religious periods such as Ramadan.

The Consulate states that in collaboration with local authorities and humanitarian organizations, will ensure the proper distribution of the dates so that they reach the most vulnerable families in various regions
of Nigeria.

In his remarks, Aliyu Ado Kibiya, Commissioner, Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation said “it is unanimously believed that, the teaming populace of the state considers Saudi Kingdom as strong pillar in humanitarian affairs globally.”

“As such we are always proud of its utmost Samaritans especially the continues donation of dates over the years which absolutely mitigate people anguish during Ramadan fasting period and makes so many familles gladder.

“It is equally pertinent to express the ministry’s heartfelt appreciation precisely to His Excellency the Consulate General for Your tireless efforts, commitment and sustenance taking into cognizance of the potentialities drive by the people of the state. More grease to your elbows.

“Your Excellency Sir, distinguish guests I am pleased to notify you that, after careful assessment by the state committee established under my Chairmanship planned ahead to judiciously distribute the donated date to Islamic Institutions, Rehabilitation centers, Social Homes, General Hospitals, Destitute and other vulnerable individuals in the State.

“The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to once again appreciate the entire stakeholders of this exercise for their usual support and cooperation in this respect. Equally, I pray that all invited guest would get back to their respective destinations favorably and safely,” he said.
