DSP Barau pays registration fees for 52 Kano NLO clubs

Senator Barau I Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate and founder of Barau Football Club (Barau FC), has made a significant contribution to grassroots football in Kano State by paying the registration fees for 52 clubs participating in this year’s Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO).
The gesture followed a request from Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim (Lato), who lead the delegation of the Nigeria Nationwide League One Kano Football Clubs Forum, during a courtesy visit to Senator Barau at the National Assembly. Alhaji Salisu who is a NLO board members representing North West,highlighted the financial challenges faced by the clubs and praised Senator Barau for his longstanding support of football development in Kano and beyond.
In his remarks, Senator Barau emphasized the importance of engaging youths through sports, noting that football serves as a platform for skill development and community upliftment. He expressed his commitment to supporting local clubs, stating, “Nothing is too much to engage our youths. Football has many benefits, and it is very lucrative. The more, the merrier.”
Senator Barau’s contributions to football in Kano include the construction of 13 modern stadiums and his continued support of various football initiatives, dating back to 2003 when he sponsored the Abubakar Rimi Cup. His efforts have positioned him as a key promoter of sports development in the region.
In addition, Barau FC player Ibrahim Yunusa Sulaiman has been invited to the Nigerian Flying Eagles U-20 camp in preparation for this year’s AFCON in Morocco, showcasing the growing impact of the club on the national stage.
