AGILE PROJECT: KNSG disburse 45 850 ATM cards to school Girls
Kano state Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf has flagged-Off the distribution of ATM cards for conditional cash transfer totalling 917 million naira to 45850 girls under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
The exercise was held at Government Girls Secondary School , Janguza in Tofa local government.
The Governor, stated that, the beneficiaries were selected from 19 local governments in the state, he added that the areas from where the beneficiaries emerged were educationally less developed .
Governor Kabir disclosed that , the project includes the provision of stipends, rehabilitation and construction of classrooms for effective teaching and learning.
The Governor reiterated the commitment of his administration towards improving the educational sector , he said, ” as promised during the campaigns, we will ensure the implementation of free education with the provision of what is needed to ensure its workability, so as for the school-age children to be educated” .
On the illegal collection of fees by schools administrators, the Governor warned, ” I want to use to use this opportunity to sternly warn schools administrators to stop illegal levies collection as education is free in the state.
The state government will not fold it’s arms to watch the continuation of the ugly trend and all concerned parties must take note and comply.” The Governor warned.
Earlier, the project coordinator on AGILE Conditional Cash Transfer in Kano state, Alh Nasiru Abdullahi Kwalli, said the program is a tripartite project between the Federal government, Kano state government and the World bank that was aimed at creating new safe learning spaces and improving existing infrastructure in secondary schools.
Alh Nasiru Kwalli maintained that the project was meant to foster an enabling environment for girls and projects and system strengthening.
