Gombe Inter Schools Athletics kick stars as Stakeholders Thrilled as Thousands of Students, Athletes Witness Opening ceremony

No fewer than estimated 3000 secondary schools Students in Gombe State were excited to witness the opening ceremony of Gombe Inter Schools Athletics and Principal Cup football competition which commenced early Tuesday at the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe State.

The students who represent their various schools at the opening ceremony as we’re excited as many of them had not visited the stadium in their lives.

More than 25 private schools including 40 public schools participated in the match pass that lasted for almost an hour.
Government Senior Secondary Schools Bolari East won the match pass and when home with N100,000 cash handed over to their school games master.
Aside the students in attendance, state commissioner of Education, Dr Aishatu Umar Maigari led the other dignitaries to take the official kick off of the Gombe State Principal Cup.

The opening football match was between Government Day Junior Secondary School and Savannah Group of School.

As at the time of filing this report, Savanah Group of Schools led by a lone goal which remained that way till the end of the game as the stadium filled to capacity against Government Day Junior secondary school.
Some dignitaries who came from other states were also in attendance to witness the glamorous and colourful opening ceremony.
Other events would hold later today in the track and field, such as 100m, 200m, Javelin and high jump in boys and girls category.
Director General of the competition, Hon Ahmed Gara Gombe expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for the success of opening ceremony and urged the participants to see the athletics championship and principal cup as a platform to showcase their talents to the world.

He also thanked the media for their unwavering support given the tourneys before and during saying that without media coverage the event might not record a huge success in day one of the tournament.
