Kano Consumer protection Council KCPC and its managing director Brigadier General Idris Bello Danbazau last Tuesday appeared before a Kano High court no 15 sitting at Miller road to respond to allegations bordering on the demand of N5million bribe from one Sani Ismail.
The plaintiff represented by barrister Usman Umar Fari informed the court that , he is a businessman, alleging that the state consumer protection council seized quantum groundnut oil belonging to the plaintiff.
He then alleged that the council boss requested Sani Ismail to part with N5 million bribe to secure the release of the confiscated items.
The plaintiff then applied for an order of the court to direct mobile telecommunication company MTN to produce the voice communication , to unravel where and when the businessman and Brigadier General Idris Bello Danbazau had converse on the issue before the court.
The plaintiff further requested for an order of the court directing NAFDAC to produce the documents that contained the regulatory status of the confiscated goods.
The presiding judge, Nasiru Saminu granted the duo request made to the court by the plaintiff.
The court ordered MTN to furnish it with the communication that took place between Brigadier General Idris Bello Danbazau and Sani Ismail.
Further the court directed NAFDAC to avail it with the information in its custody concerning the seized items.
The advocate to the defendants, barrister M H. Waziri dismissed the allegations levied against the council and its MD, expressing his belief that at the end of the matter, the interest of justice will prevail .
The matter is adjourned to 24 January 2022 for continuation.
